Out of This World! A Journey Through the Planets
Written by Mr. Horna
If you walked past Ms. Mkhatshwa’s Earth Science class on Friday, May 22nd, you might have thought you stepped into an observatory! Our students recently took a break from Earth-bound studies to complete a hands-on mini-project exploring our solar system.
Each student was tasked with becoming the resident expert on a specific planet. To bring their research to life, they engineered their own handmade planet models, paying close attention to the visual details that make each celestial body unique. Armed with their models and carefully prepared research sheets, the students then took turns presenting to the class.
From the gas giants to the rocky inner planets, the class learned about the fascinating, diverse characteristics that make up our cosmic neighborhood. The students did a phenomenal job explaining complex planetary facts, all while practicing their public speaking skills. We are incredibly proud of the effort and enthusiasm they poured into these presentations!
A Warm Welcome to Prospective Families
This past Saturday morning, our campus was buzzing with excitement as we hosted an Information Meeting for potential new students and their parents. We were thrilled to welcome a fantastic turnout of 30 families who came to learn more about our school’s community, curriculum, and educational vision.
During the session, Ms. Stella Lin and Mr. Mark Fergus took the floor to introduce our academic programs and explain what makes learning here so special. They guided the parents through our core values, teaching methodologies, and the day-to-day student experience.
The morning was a huge success. The visiting families left with big smiles. We are so grateful to everyone who attended and look forward to potentially welcoming these new families into our school community next year!
