New Year, New Semester
Written by Mr. Robertson
Welcome back again. We all hope that everyone had a restful and relaxing vacation and exciting holiday. Did you get red envelopes and new clothes? How many dumplings did you eat? Did you host your family or did you go to a parent’s or grandparent’s house? This is a time for renewing and refreshing ourselves so that we can be prepared for the year to come. And we at CIS hope that you are ready to go because we have another exciting semester planned for our students. Spring break, Dragon Boat Festival, graduation ceremonies, and many other exciting opportunities to explore the future, connect our community, and add new experiences to our lives. It will be challenging, yes, but it will also add to what makes all of us who we are and who we will be.
One of the more exciting opportunities we are planning to provide is our cadre of students taking preparatory classes for the AP English Language and Composition as well as AP English Language and Literature exams this coming May. The AP (Advanced Placement) program was begun last year and now continues into its first full year at CIS. This batch of students is busily preparing for the AP Exams coming up at the end of May. This exam can earn students college credit in many foreign universities. That makes college more affordable for parents and less taxing for the students. That is a win-win for everyone. Though the classes have been difficult, the students have made great progress. Their instructors are confident in their potential performances.
We are hoping that the AP program continues and even expand in the future. It is a great way to secure a bright future for any student. If you have any questions about it, seek out Mr. Chen, Mr. Robertson, or Dr. Dooley about the current courses or possible new offerings.
Once again, welcome back to CIS for another semester. Here’s hoping that this is the best one yet and it will only be outdone by the one following it.
