Halloween Festivities Bring Fun and Community to All School Levels

Written by Mr. O’Reilly

Our recent Halloween celebration brought together students from elementary school, junior high, and high school for a fun and engaging day filled with costumes, activities, and community spirit. From trick-or-treating to high-energy activities, everyone had the chance to experience a bit of Halloween magic.

Elementary students enjoyed trick-or-treating by visiting classrooms around the school, the university, and even the kindergarten, spreading Halloween cheer with every stop. Costumes were in full swing, with Harry Potter characters and Mario-themed costumes standing out as popular choices. Many parents got involved in making these creative costumes, helping their kids become wizards, ghouls, and beloved video game characters. In a heartwarming gesture, some parents even donated candy, emphasizing the spirit of sharing that Halloween brings.

Junior high and high school students joined the fun by setting up various Halloween-themed stations. The student council worked hard to plan and design activities, and the excitement was high as students moved through each station. Some of these activities included a mystery box challenge, where students guessed the contents by touch and smell,  a human chess game that required strategy and memory, and memory card tricks that tested students’ recall skills. The energy and excitement at each station created a festive atmosphere, with students eagerly participating and cheering each other on.

These types of activities are more than just fun—they strengthen community ties and allow students to develop important social and teamwork skills. They also create a sense of unity across different age groups, with students and parents contributing to the festivities. When parents and students work together in such activities, it not only builds a stronger school community but also enhances students’ learning experiences. Through Halloween, we saw how fun and creativity can bring everyone closer, making our school a place where students of all ages can learn, laugh, and celebrate together.
