Game On!

The first week of school hinted at all the signs of a successful year. The excitement of a new semester, with its friendships and opportunities, fueled the students’ chatter. The desire to inspire motivation and a love of learning in their classrooms was the priority for our teachers.

The chess club was led by Mr. Rabanal, who first introduced the pieces and explained their movements on the board. Before long, students were actively engaged, deep in thought, as they crafted their next chess moves or discussed the complexity of this beautiful game. Nevertheless, the notion of challenging Mr. Rabanal became an unexpected incentive.
One familiar sight was the excitement in the basketball club. As a popular sport, it attracted a crowd of students going one-on-one against their best friends. Hit or miss, they celebrated all the same.
Not far away, another crowd of students laughed at their failed attempts to hit the ball in their hockey club; their laughter was echoed by words of encouragement from their teacher, Mr. Woodman, creating a supportive atmosphere.
In the card game club, Mr. Wilmott patiently explained the rules of cribbage, a card game that involves strategic thinking and good memory. It also serves as a great way to socialize and connect with others, an assignment that our students embraced with enthusiasm.

Moving from games to gastronomy, our last stop was one of the most popular sites: the baking club. Thomas, a brilliant student in grade 12, guided his peers into the joy of baking, blending delicious food with the spirit of camaraderie. His initiative reflects our commitment to developing strong leaders in our community.

The club activities were the perfect end to a long and productive week at CTBC. They serve as a prelude for the week ahead, filled with the promise of great experiences and new opportunities for learning.
