Clubs are Back at CTBC International Academy
Written by Mr. Delpeche
After two long months, the clubs are back at CTBC International Academy, and excitement is in the air. After a well-deserved winter break, students have eagerly returned to their clubs and activities, reconnecting with friends and rediscovering old passions.
I had the opportunity to visit a few of the clubs and take some beautiful pictures to capture the students’ favorite time of the week. In the chess club, Mr. Rabanal has introduced fresh strategies to reignite students’ passion for the game. The puzzles he has created have sparked intense interest and friendly competition. While the atmosphere is more relaxed and students seem more confident, the rivalries among players remain as fierce as ever. I had the chance to start a chess game with Amber, a high school student. Had I finished the game, she would have checkmated me, but luckily duty called.

The cards club, still led by Mr. Wilmott, is steadily gaining popularity among students who enjoy a bit of friendly competition and strategic thinking. In the kitchen, Thomas, a brilliant student who leads the cooking club, has sparked a new interest with his delicious cheese pasta recipe. The simple yet flavorful dish brought smiles to everyone’s face. It’s no surprise that the cooking club has gained some extra attention. My only regret is that I didn’t try any of the food, a rookie mistake.
Over in the hockey club, Mr. Woodman wasted no time in getting the students back into action. The drills have started once again, with the team working hard to perfect their skills.

Lastly, the basketball club, always one of the most popular sports at our school, is back in full swing. With a court full of eager students, there’s no need for an introduction. Everyone is thrilled to get back to their favorite sport, ready to put in the hard work and make this season unforgettable.
The clubs provide a great opportunity for students to spend time away from the books, make friends, and develop strategies and critical thinking. Pictures and words can’t fully capture the beautiful experience they are having. Come visit us, and you will get a firsthand testimony of their time well spent among friends.
