A Day of Fun, Fitness, and Community Spirit: Celebrating the CIS Community and Giving Back
Written by Mr. Medina
CTBC International School (CIS) proudly hosted its annual Family Day on Saturday, March 21st, 2026, bringing together students, families, and staff for a day filled with energy, teamwork, and meaningful connection. The event highlighted not only the strong sense of community at CIS but also the school’s commitment to character development and social responsibility.
The day began with sign-in at 8:30 a.m., as families arrived with excitement and anticipation. Shortly after, all attendees gathered for a group photo, capturing a wonderful moment of unity and school spirit. This was followed by a warm welcome address and an inspiring speech from the Head of Elementary School, Mr. Fergus, who set a positive tone for the day and introduced the first major activity: The Terry Fox Run.
Before the run began, participants took part in a lively warm-up session led by one of CIS’s talented student athletes. The 20-minute run took place around the main square in front of the administration building and was held in honor of Terry Fox, a Canadian hero who attempted to run across Canada to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Through this activity, students were encouraged to reflect on important values such as empathy, compassion, perseverance, and the importance of helping others.
The CIS community responded with incredible generosity. Although the original fundraising goal was NT$20,000, students, families, and staff worked together to raise over NT$72,000, which was donated to the Taiwan Cancer Research Foundation. This remarkable achievement demonstrated the power of collective effort and the caring spirit that defines the CIS community.
Following the run, attendees gathered on the soccer field and were divided into five teams, each consisting of six staff members and 20 families. The teams then rotated through four exciting activity stations: football, archery, basketball, and baseball. All activities were run simultaneously, with each team given 20 minutes at each station to score as many points as possible. The field was filled with laughter, encouragement, and friendly competition, as participants of all ages worked together and supported one another.
After an exciting series of rounds, the Yellow Team emerged as the overall winner, finishing approximately 1,000 points ahead of the second-place team. Their teamwork, enthusiasm, and determination were truly commendable.
To conclude the day, attendees enjoyed a delicious outdoor barbecue prepared by the school with the help of dedicated staff and students. Families relaxed picnic-style on the soccer field, sharing burgers, hot dogs, sausages, and steaks while enjoying each other’s company.
Family Day 2026 was a tremendous success, strengthening bonds within the CIS community and leaving everyone with lasting memories.
