Student Council Planning to Collaborate Across Schools and Age Groups

Written by Dr. Dooley

During a moving ceremony at graduation, the outgoing CTBC CIS student council leaders passed the reigns on to the incoming leaders for the 2026/2027 school year. Young (the incoming president) and Alisa (the incoming vice president) are already planning for some exciting activities for the upcoming year, with a focus on increased collaboration to strengthen the CIS community.

Young and Alisa

Young and Alisa are aiming to create athletic collaboration by joining with nearby international schools like IAS and KAS to hold friendly matches in sports including basketball and volleyball. These matches are a chance for student athletes to meet, socialize, and most importantly develop their skills with a new group of challengers.

These plans for collaboration across schools don’t stop at sports, however. The CIS Model United Nations is another area where the incoming student council see the potential for connection. The CIS student council is looking to bring in other school’s UN delegates for an upcoming training camp, where students from several schools can improve their understanding of international issues by working together to tackle real world problems.

CTBC’s Model UN Hard at Work

Although the student council is made up of high school students, their plans aren’t limited to upper classmen. They say that building community between junior high and high school students is another of their big goals for the upcoming year. They are looking forward to creating activities that bring different age groups together, perhaps by creating a big sibling/little sibling program that will encourage support by pairing older students up with younger ones.

All in all, the student council is putting the CTBC motto, “we are family,” into action by strengthening CIS’s community bonds.
