First Basketball Competition Brings Energy and Unity to Campus

In lieu of the regular club activities, CIS hosted its first basketball competition of the year on Friday, November 7, 2025. The event drew a large audience as students gathered at the basketball court, either to cheer for their classmates or to take part in friendly yet competitive 3-on-3 matches.

The games highlighted not only the players’ skills but also the unity that makes the school community special. “I was very nervous at first, but after a while I felt the support of my teammates. It feels nice to be included and supported and give back that support in return,” said Karin, a Grade 11 student. The competition aimed to strengthen relationships among students, a goal reflected in Young’s comment: “It was nice to play with classmates I had never talked to before. The event definitely helped build new connections.”

Yolanda, who has basketball experience, noted that it was “a great opportunity to play basketball again in a more competitive setting,” while suggesting that longer games with more breaks would improve performance. Despite the short rounds, Ethan expressed that more sporting activities should be added to the school schedule, a suggestion which will be strongly considered by the student council for future events.

From the sidelines, both teachers and students showed continuous encouragement, cheering for every shot and play. “Inclusivity is what makes our school different,” said Eliana, commending the spirit of the event.

While the spotlight was on the players, behind the scenes, organizers ensured that everything ran smoothly. Wish, one of the main organizers, shared, “This activity taught me a lot about time management and communication, without which nothing would have been done.”

The basketball competition marked the beginning of a series of events designed to promote friendship, creativity, and school unity as the community looks forward to the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations.
