CTBC International Academy Parent-Teacher Day – A Successful and Engaging Event
Written by Mr. Medina
On Saturday, March 8, CTBC International Academy held its Parent-Teacher Day for the spring semester of the 2024-2025 school year. This event provided an excellent opportunity for both new and returning parents to get to know the school better, learn about recent updates, and discover exciting new developments at our institution. The day was designed not only to welcome new families but also to strengthen the connection between parents and teachers as we work together to support students’ growth and success.
The event began with a warm welcome from our Dean, Ms. Lin, who set the tone for the day with her thoughtful address. She was followed by Mr. Fergus, the head of the elementary school, and Mr. Woodman, the head of the high school. Both shared valuable updates about their respective departments, highlighting the progress made in the past semester and the continued commitment to excellence in education.

One of the first and most anticipated highlights of the day was the introduction of our dedicated teaching staff. Teachers had the chance to meet with parents and share a brief background of their professional journeys, including their teaching philosophies and the class content they cover. It was a wonderful opportunity for parents to get to know the educators who work so closely with their children each day and to understand the vision behind the lessons being taught in the classroom.

Another exciting aspect of the day was the introduction of the newly renovated high school classrooms on the fourth floor of the international building. Parents were impressed with the state-of-the-art smartboards that are now installed in each classroom. These interactive boards have significantly enhanced the learning experience, providing both teachers and students with a more engaging and dynamic way to interact with lessons. The new technology has already been well received by the students and teachers alike, and it was a highlight for parents to see it firsthand.

Perhaps one of the most exciting developments this semester is the opening of our brand-new computer lab. Located on the third floor of the international building, just below the library. The lab is equipped with 52 state-of-the-art computers. These computers are linked to a central broadcast system, allowing teachers to easily manage the classroom and monitor students’ progress during lessons. While the lab was specifically designed for computer-based classes, it can also be utilized by other departments to integrate cutting-edge technology into their curriculum. This new resource will undoubtedly enhance our students’ learning experience by providing them with access to advanced tools and resources.
The final highlight of the day was a moving and inspiring speech by our Provost, Mr. Hutchinson. He shared personal anecdotes from his time as a teacher, reminding both parents and staff of the vital roles we each play in the lives of students. Mr. Hutchinson expressed his gratitude to parents for trusting CTBC International Academy with their children’s education, as well as his appreciation for the dedicated work of our staff members who continue to make a difference every day.

After the speeches, parents were escorted to their child’s homeroom, where teachers had prepared thorough presentations about their classes. These sessions gave parents a valuable glimpse into what their child’s typical day at CTBC International Academy looks like, highlighting the academic lessons, extracurricular activities, daily routines, and overall expectations. Teachers also shared how they support students’ growth, both academically and emotionally, and discussed ways in which parents can actively contribute to their child’s success. Additionally, parents had the chance to engage in one-on-one conversations with any teacher they wished, promoting an open and communicative environment.
In conclusion, Parent-Teacher Day was a wonderful success, providing valuable insights into our school’s programs, fostering stronger relationships between parents and teachers, and reinforcing our shared commitment to the well-being and academic success of every student at CTBC International Academy. We look forward to continuing this collaboration throughout the school year and beyond.
